The Facilities

The Carrick-on-Suir Handball & Racquetball club is a community based club, and currently has an indoor 40x20 court used for playing Handball and Racquetball. It also has an outdoor 60x30 court. There are two changing rooms with shower facilities, which can be used by all members and visiting guests or teams from other clubs. Male and female toilets are also available. Within the club there is also a great viewing area to watch games being played, and a tea or coffee area, where members or visiting guests can avail of before or after a game. There is also a referee stand, which is used to referee a match. A new addition to the club is the Gym, which can be used by all paid members.

Membership to the club is €20 per adult, €10 per juvenile and €50 for a family per year. This includes the use of all facilities. The use of the court and the gym is on a pay for lights basis. The cost of the lights for the court is €1 for 15 minutes and the cost of the lights for the gym is €1 for 25 minutes.




Court

History of Club

The grounds of the club was build around the 1970's, and the current Handball and Racquetball club was established 1985 mainly through hard work of Patsy Tobin and Paddy Doherty. The club has a long tradition in playing Handball and have competed and won many competitions since it's establishment.

The club is a credit to the town of Carrick-on-Suir, as it provides affordable means of getting fit and staying active. It also has brought All-Ireland, Munster and County success to the town. In 2013, both Patsy Tobin and Paddy Doherty received an award for there long standing commitment to handball in south Tipperary. Both men are still very active in the club today.



Court

Club President

The president of the club is Patsy Tobin, who can be seen in the middle of the photograph on the right. In 2012, he received a Sean Ghael Award at the 10th Annual Presentation Ceremony. His son David Tobin, seen on the right in the photograph, manages the club from it's day to day activities to the overall running of the club. Willy Roche, seen on the left of the photograph is the current GAA Handball president.
